I just purchased a 2003 ZX3 (2.0 Zetec), and was surprised to find no
mention of engine break-in procedure in the owner’s manual.  I have done a
couple of google searches on the subject and wound up with conflicting
opinions.  Does anyone know how many miles Ford recommends for break-in?

I own a 2001 Focus SE 4DR. Was happy with the vehicle (despite
squealing brakes) until May of this year. When I run the A/C, the car
stalls repeatedly. No A/C, it runs fine.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions for a fix?

Six months ago, I was a happy Focus owner. Now I am scared of this
car. I will not allow my 18 yr old to drive it. I am documenting
everything in the event that someone is injured as a result of defects
in this vehicle.

Well…    Yet again my 1.8Tddi is in for Warranty Repairs.

Screeching fanbelt  -  for it’s 8th replacement.
Handbrake – when engaging, even with the button full pressed, a large
clunking sound is heard and felt.
Excessive black smoke when accelerating (oil change only 7 months ago)

And the biggie. – Rusting on the boot (Tailgate).  TWO identical paint
blisters either side of the Ford Logo. One mechanic at the service centre
was quoted as saying, Rust from inside the boot, causing paint blistering
from the inside.

We shall see…

I’m expecting a lot of opposition regarding the rust however I do have the
Headquarters Complaints number ready.

Anyone else have a Ford Focus here?

When I turn on the Airco I get a fairly loud POK-noise from under the car.
Dealer says it’s the Airco pump and it’s a normal sound. My last car (Opel
vectra) didn’t do POK when I turned on the airco
Anyone got any suggestions or has the same POK?

Hello,

I own a 2000 Ford Focus (the SE 4 door sedan model).  A few weeks ago,
all of my power locks stopped operating.  I suspect that I blew the
central locking module fuse (#63) and would like to replace it.

Fuse #63 is ‘conveniently’ located on the reverse side of the fuse
panel inside car (below and to the left of the steering wheel).  The
panel is held in place by two 7mm hexagon bolts.  I am stumped as to
how to remove these.  There is not enough clearance to fit a normal
7mm wrench around the bolts as they are partly surrounded by a metal
box and some protrusions from the fuse panel.

Has anyone with this model successfully made this change (or can
anyone see how to do it)?  Note that this is not one of the models
where one must lower the glove box to access the panel.

Can anyone educate me as to what the mechanical differences are between the
100 & 115 BHP flavour TDCI Focus TDCI models?

I have a ’03 Focus LX 4DR Sedan automatic, A/C and 1,000 miles. No other
fancy features (no cruise, etc…) It has AM/FM/TAPE (no CD).  I
purchased it new on 6/14 and unfortunately it was in an accident on 6/23.
The car is currently in the shop and it is estimated that it will take 20
days to fix .

A few questions:

I am planning on taking the car back to the dealer (after it is repaired
of course) and see if I can trade it in (considering that it was only a
week old at the time of the accident). I am also going to file a
Diminished Value claim against the other party’s insurance. The insurance
company says that the car is worth $12,xxx.

What do you think I could for it from the dealer?

What would this car be worth on a trade if it wasn’t in an accident, but
was in excellent, showroom, ready for resale, the dealer doesn’t have to
do any prep, etc, condition?

I am financing this car through Ford Credit. Would I be able to pay off
the car with the trade and then finance another car?

I know that dealers still have ’03′s on the lot and probably want to get
rid of them. Any idea on what kind of price I can get on another ’03
Focus (maybe a SE or SE Comfort), I want cruise control and ABS would be
nice, the other features (P/W, P/L, etc…) are not important, but if I
can get a good deal, I’ll take it!
