Anybody own an SVT with the winter package? I’m taking delivery (sight
unseen) later this week of mine and was wondering if the traction
control is defeatable (able to turn it off). Also, is this just plain
old traction control or is this the "Advance-Trac" like that offered
on the other cars?

  I plan on using the car during our club open track events (Watkins
Glen) and don’t necessarily want the computer fooling with the car mid
turn. Plain old traction control to avoid wheel spin is acceptable,
however, the Advance Trac system might proove to be troublesome in a
performance driving situation.

Is it still possible to get rear seat headrests with the 2002 and/or 2003
Focus in the U.S.?  With the 2001 Focus, I know that the rear headrests came
as an option along with the side airbags.  But I haven’t been able to find
any reference to rear headrests on the 2002 or 2003 models.  And all the
pictures I’ve seen of them seem to lack headrests.

Ford Focus 2001 ZX3 (Mexican)

I felt so good after my infamous ‘check engine’ light was fixed under
warranty this morning, I visited an auto audio dealer and had a ten-CD
changer installed under the front passenger seat… the Sony CDX-565MXRF
which currently may be the only model which can also play .mp3 CDRoms.  

When the sucker is finally loaded up with my custom disks, I’ll have more
than a hundred hours of commercial-free entertainment on tap.  This is an
FM model which sends the signal to the factory radio.  Sound is very
decent even with the factory speakers.  The Sony changer offers two levels
of additional bass/treble boost which is tantamount to a virtual upgrade
of the factory speakers.

I did find, however, that this Sony is very picky about blank cdrom
quality.  Some ‘bargain’ blanks I initially used to record my .mp3 stuff
sounded rather broken up… switching to a good brand of blank solved the
problem.

While at the Ford dealer I had asked about the possibility of fitting the
2002 year 6-CD changer into my 2001 car… price would have been
exhorbitant, and still no .mp3 capability  :^(

Has anyone had the problem of alloy wheels "sticking" to wheel hubs. This
happen to my when I tried to rotate the wheels I simply could not move then.

Took the car to my local Rapid Fit garage and they jacked it up and from
underneath they proceeded to hit the tyres with a heavy hammer until they
became free.

Seems they "rust" to the wheel hubs, only glad I did not find this out in a
puncture wheel changing situation.

Could someone tell me what the torque setting for alloy road wheel nut
should be.

Hi, Ive an  UK Xreg 2001 1.6 Zetec. Very ocasionaly, when ive got out of the
car ive heard a slight ‘beep’. It doesnt happen every time but it did happen
once tonight. I had te dfoors locked whilst driving then pulled up, switched
engine off and opened the door, thats when ive heard it and ive no idea what
it could be. Cant find it in the manuel. I thought it could be something to
do with the Audiable warning for the lights but its a much higher tone then
this, and my lights were off too, so cant be that.

Anyone else heard this on there car?
