Re: Strange smell after oil change

When I change the oil, if it calls for say 4.5 quarts w/filter…I put
in around 4, start it and make sure there are no leaks. I then shut it
and clean up…check it after maybe 10 minutes and add the rest. I then
check it cold in the morning in a day or two to make sure all is ok.
Too much oil isn’t good as it can foam with air and hurt seals.

Ford Focus 1.6 revs problem

Ford Focus 1.6, 2001, European model.
When the car is just about the stop (just about = 2 Km/h) the rev counter
goes up to 1300 rpm. Then it goes back to the normal position (800 rpm). It
happens all the time, doesn’t matter if it is cold (-25) or something else.
If I keep the clutch pedal pressed … nothing happens.

I went to the dealer. He, at the beginning (2 months ago) updated the ECU
with the last program version (latest patch). But I still have this problem.
Went the #¤%&%#% dealer once again. He told me this is normal, because "the
engine needs some more air just before the car stops."
Strange, isn’t it?

Catalin.

Ford Customer Service !!WTF ?

I Called Ford customer service to make a complaint about my local dealership
which had failed to provide a permanent fix to a re-occurring problem.

His reply was  "well all mass manufactured cars have their problems"

NOT ON A £15,000 CAR IT BLOODY DOESN’T.

It may not be a £35,000 Audi TT (or whatever they cost) or a £200,000
Ferrari but it’s still a shit load of money to pay for a car and I don’t
like to be fobbed off by some stupid Ford customer services muppet.

FORD YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED !!

Clutch engaging

Does anyone have a problem with their clutch not wanting to disengage.
A couple of times lately I’ve stopped at a red light and have had
great difficulty moving the shift lever while *fully* pressing the
clutch pedal.  Once I’ve even stalled because the revs were so low.
It feels like the clutch plate does not want to fully disengage and
keeps applying power to the wheels.
Does anyone know if there is a recall item on this type of thing or
failing that it would fall under warranty repairs?  P.S.  I’m really
sick of these recall notices – something in the order of 8 or 9 since
the vehicle was constructed (Sept, 1999).

While the above is a major beef with my car I’ve noticed something
else that is more minor in nature.  The headrests on the front seats
have a tendency to *extend* themselves.  I normally have them set to
the first notch.  But today I’ve noticed for the second time that the
headrest doesn’t stay in that position.  It climbed into a fully
extended mode.  I reset the headrest again but ultimately this could
be a safety issue.  Again please notify me of any other reports of the
like to this usegroup. (Hint: don’t try the email address, it’s a
dummy)

Part number for US Mud Flaps & Center Console w/ instructions

I’m thinking of picking these up on payday. Anyone have the part
number.

I read about a year ago where someone listed out all the parts to
order and instructions on how to put in the arm rest / console on a
zx3. I mostly curious on the results of this on a 2000 ZX3 as I do a
bit of highway driving and like the arm rest …

Does the Focus use galvinized body parts??

We are considering a Focus and wonder if it has coated (galvinized)body panels
like some Ford do? Road salt kinda thing….   Double side galvinized holds up
well
