Gas difference?

Hi,

- What difference does it make if I use 87ocatne or 91octane or other gas type in my ZX3?
– Could it damage the engine or some parts of the exhaust?
– Why they recommend to use poorest 87octane gas?

Thanks.

Robert

I’ve found out that I need the ractive intake SF007, any thoughts on where i
can get this?  How fussy are dealers about this intake/filter voiding
warranties?

Connecting a carkit to an Easy Sound System 6000

Hello!

I’m going to order a Ford Focus 1.8TDDI wagon soon and was wondering
what the connections on the 6000 radio are. I want to install a carkit
myself and need info on what pins the following connections are:
– 12 volt continuous
– 12 volt switched with iginition
– ground
– phone mute
– audio in for the phone speaker signal

I would like to connect the carkit to the Easy Sound System 6000 with
the phone audio going through the radio speaker(s), so I don;t need to
install the extra carkit speaker. Ford has a carkit which does that, so
it should be possible.

Anyone with a service manual? =8-)

Upgrade Focus loudspeakers?

I have a US-made 2001 Focus SE wagon and wonder if anybody has tried
upgrading the loudspeakers.  The front pair seem to be 6×9" and perhaps
might sound better to my 66-year-old ears if they were replaced by 2-way
speakers with tweeters… I could use a bit more treble.

Any advice?

Eibach springs and reducing body roll

I’ve recently been thinking about adding after-market improvements to the
suspension on my Focus. I spoke with a local shop in Rochester NY and was told
the only improvement available is to replace the stock springs with an Eibach
spring kit which will improve handling by dropping the body 1" and stiffen the
suspension. Has anyone tried this or have any other recommendations for reducing
body roll I’ve experienced at higher speeds. I was also told stiffer sway bars
were in the works from several vendors. Are they the real cure for excess body
roll?

Disclaimer: I should add, I do not abuse the wonderful privilege I have of
driving my car on the road, and go out of my way (in my opinion) to be a safe
and courteous driver. But when the occasion strikes me and conditions are
agreeable, I do play a bit, and thoroughly enjoy pushing my car above and beyond
driving from "point a to point b". :-) Please direct any comments about my
driving to my personal email address.

Cheers.
-Paul

Focus 5-door on ABC

Focus observers who watched ABC "Funniest Holiday Commercials You’ve Never
Seen" got a surprise — one of the ads was a UK spot for the Focus 5-door
hatch.  Cool!  The commercial showed a blue [*] 5-door driving down a snowy
road.  Suddenly, the driver has to veer around a moose standing in the car’s
path.  For some reason, ABC felt compelled to dub over the commercial’s
dialoge with their own narration, so I don’t know what anyone was saying,
but I’ll assume they were talking up traction control or ABS.  At any rate
Focus and moose did not meet.  The tagline was "Ford Focus:  Expect More."

[*] It was a little lighter than the midnight/twilight blue we have
Stateside.

Speaking of 5-doors, in another thread, DanielB_ZX3 wondered:

>What would be ideal would be to see the SVT-Focus based on the 5-dr!! The
>SVT will boast 170HP .. enough to wheel around a 5-dr???!!

That was probably a rhetorical question, but I’ll note that the VW Jetta VR6
seems to get along well enough with its 174-hp V6.
