I have noticed that my entire electrical system- interior lights,
headlights, etc. flicker when I step on the brakes. I had it checked
at the dealership and they spent all day looking for the ‘problem’
before they discovered that all of the Foci do it too. Anyone else
notice this? Or have a fix? They said it was not a problem but it
can’t be good on the system.

Hi everyone.

I ordered a ZTS with the works way back on January 8 and have been getting
the run-around ever since.  Six to eight weeks – Hehehe – what a lie!  Has
anyone else had to wait so long to get a car that was ordered?  Two weeks
ago, after repeated phone calls, they finally gave me a VIN, but just
tonight (while I was making a little scene in the showroom) I was told the
car "disappeared from the list"  whatever THAT may be!  The salesman
suggested it may mean the car was damaged.

They’ve supposedly put it back on the list to be built AGAIN, claiming it
was given a priority "2" by a "District Manager", another nameless Ford
woman.  I asked exactly what the priority level meant in real-time and got
more  fumbling from the sales guy!  He assured me that dealers usually only
get  vehicles listed between priority level 10 – 20.  Again I asked him what
difference the priority level 2 would mean to me, and got more double-talk!

What do you think?  Anyone else experience my kind of difficulties?  And
more to the point, IS IT WORTH IT?  I’m thinking of demanding my money back
and heading to Subaru again.

Frustrated and Focusless

Anyone know of a way to squeeze a few more RPM out of the redline
limiter? I want to see what the 0-60 for a zx3 is without having to
shift into third. Could/Does the superchip do it?

How significantly does an automatic reduce performance?  Would
appreciate some comment on driving experience, living with a Focus.

I’ve just got my brand new Focus (1.6 LX UK spec) and there is a slight
problem: When I hit a slight incline/hill and keep up a steady speed of
80mph with steady revs, the engine heat guage seems to start moving
towards the Red Danger Zone, as soon as I take my foot off the gas for a
few seconds it will go back to the normal ’12 oclock’ position.
I took it in to the garage for a look over , and they said they couldnt
find anything wrong with it. It’s now done 1,000 miles – do you think it
could still be ‘breaking in’?
I’m gonna give it another 1000 miles, not thrash it, and then take it
back if it’s still doing it.
Any ideas what it could be? Both the radiator cooling fans are working,
dodgy gauge?

Yes the Focus CD Player does play CD-Rs.  I do it all the time, never
a problem.

I’m a Ford tech I own a ZX3 and I can tell you that the ZX3 does have a
stainless steel exhaust system.

Is there an aftermarket tach I can add, in the USA, like a little box that I
could mount on the dash, and run a wire to the engine? I miss my old SAAB
tach.
