Errors on registration certificate

Hello,
I have a second-hand UK 08 registration Focus 1.6 Zetec Auto.
The registration certificate describes the body as saloon and the number of
seats as 4, including the driver.
The car is a 5 door hatchback and there are seatbelts for 3 backseat
pasengers.
The VIN is the same on the certificate as on the vehicle and the other
details also are correct. However, I have not been able to verify the
variant or version codes.
Should I notify the DVLA of these inconsistencies and should I return the
certificate to them for correction?
Looking forward to any suggestions and thank you for reading this,

Roger

Drivers door central locking doesn't work

My x-plate 2001 model 5-door has developed a strange habit.
When opening the car with the drivers door key, only drivers door
opens until you manually open the passengers from inside, or give it a
minute or two and the all other doors open.
Opening via passengers door key seem quite ok.
Other electrical items seem ok including starting in this cold
weather.

How long does your red dashboard panel stay lit?

Got a 58 diesel titanium with a red dashboard display panel
that can show ‘miles till empty’ , ‘average mpg’ etc.  I’ve locked
up and left the car before now, come back 30min later and the
panel is still lit. Can anyone tell me how long before their’s
goes dark?

2000 Focus SE Alternator Problem?

I have a 2000 Focus SE (Manufactured 11/1999) with the 2.0L Z-Tech
engine, A/C, A/T, P/S, P/L, P/W.

Here’s the problem:

When driving down the road, it seems that the voltage of the electrical
system dips.  All lights go dim, and the blower motor slows down.  It
does this for about 5-seconds then returns to normal.  The problem keeps
repeating itself.  It seems to do it more when it’s warm outside or
there’s a heavy load on the electrical system.

With lights on, rear defroster on, radio on, blower on 4, and windshield
wipers on continuous low, and 10-15 miles of freeway driving it will
start acting up.  However, with just lights, radio, blower on 2, and
wipers on 3 or 4 intermittent, it seems to take 35+ miles of highway
driving before symptoms appear, if at all.

The other thing is that when starts to really act up, the radio will
crash (like a computer) and I have to reset it.

To me, this seems to be a problem with the alternator.  It was recently
replaced due to bearing wear by the mechanic shop.  And does anybody
know what the specified output of the alternator is?  I’ve seen 105 amp
and 110 amp.

2005 focus wagon hatch opens by itself

My 2005 Focus Wagon rear hatch will open or release by itself when the
engine is started, usually when I put it in gear or when driving. I’ll stop
and close it but it keeps unlocking. I suspect it’s the relay but I’d like
some input on any other cause for this problem.

Crazing of glass (plastic) transparent front cover on instrument pod

Hi

I have a Nov 2005 reg Focus Zetec (Mk 2 UK model) and there seem to be
growing cracks in the glass/plastic transparent screen in front of the
speedo, dials etc.

It has developed slowly, and we were slow to take it back for attention
under warranty. Even though we have an ‘extended warranty’ the Ford dealer
tells us that this is just cosmetic and they won’t deal with it after the
first year. A replacement screen is not available and they would charge
about £300 for a replacement instrument unit that would mess up the mileage.

I can get a replacement unit from a breakers yard, but the dealer tells me
that it would have to be fitted to replace the whole instrument unit, as the
cover is welded in place. I’m wondering whether it is possible to do a
decent job of separating the cover and swapping with my installed unit.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and have knowledge of whether a
swap of the screen is a viable fix.

Thanks

Howard

passed MOT

I’ve had my ten year old Focus for nearly one year now and today I
took it in for the inevitable dreaded MOT test.

Happy to say it is a decent car especially after all the MOT
failures I’ve had on the old Escort it replaced, anyway it was
very refreshing to learn it had easily passed the MOT ;)
