2002 ZX3 starting to squeak when I start, stop, or turn.  It’s like a
squeaky shoe.  Since they don’t need lub during oil changes, where can
I spray some oil to stop the squeaking?

I have just bought a new 58 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Zetec 5 Dr Hatch and are
wondering where various bits are

1. How is the big plastic engine cover at the top removed, does it just pull
off

2. Where is the oil filter and is it a cartridge or an element one

3    Where is the fuel filter

I am just interested about the car having owned two previous ones. I
obviously have no need to do any work or servicing, but am interested in all
technical aspects of the car and engine. I have been unable to find very
little by "googling", so any info or links would be appreciated.

Finally I am very pleased with the car, the last one was a 1.8 TDCi and the
bigger engine is brilliant and seems to be equal mpg wise.

My names is John and I hang out over in truck…and pop-up campers and a few
others….

but the neighbor kid (god bless his soul) is trying to change the alternator
on his mother’s  ’01 focus..a/c and power steering.

He had a book but I cant see any way the alternator will come out through
the top like the book says.

He’s stumped and asked me for help – I put him off by saying we were running
out of daylight and we would fix it in the morning…yeah, right.

Well, I am going to start my google search and I hope one or two of you
fellows might have some good tips or links…I see no way to do it.  If it
were me I would have taken it to the shop.

When I start my car, I put my foot on the brake because there’s an
auto lock on the shift in park for safety reasons.

Lately, I put my foot on the brake, the car starts, but won’t go into
gear (whether "reverse" or "drive").  It remains locked in "park".

What is the problem?  How much to repair replace or fix it?

I’m trying to buy original Focus radio by e-bay. But how can I know
whether the radio would fit my car? My car VIN is WF0AXXWPDA3U53437,
it’s 2003 make, benzin; the radio is, e.g. 2006 Model 4000 TOP.

it seems that some ice has gotten into my moon roof mechanism, and
broken something, so I am looking for directions on how to properly
remove the moon roof completely from the car.
if anyone has directions, a website, or any advice it would all be
greatly appreciated

I bought this car as a damaged vehicle. It was hit on the passenger
front side. The air bags did not go off and they are okay. I repaired
the vehicle and had my friend scan and clear all the codes in memory.
He came up with all systems clear. My friend has the very expensive
scanner and can see and analyze the computer and clear any off the
error codes. I turned the car off then back on and the air bag light
came on again and flashes intermittently. As we scanned the voltage
feedback from the airbags we noticed that the voltage on the passenger
side was around .45v and the drivers side was .27v. There was a big
difference between the two. I am wondering if the passenger side bag
is really good or not. Also I replaced the drivers side seat belt
because that was defective from the accident. If anyone can give me
any advice on how to get this light to go out i would really
appreciate it. Thanks.

I noticed that the passenger side tail light wasn’t working on my 04
Focus Zetec (UK), so I replaced the bulb (correct dual filament) but
it still doesn’t work. The brake light filament works fine, however. I
then noticed that the bulb I took out wasn’t broken, and I could
verify this by temporarily installing it on the driver side (I also
tested the new bulb in this way).

I checked a few light related fuses (not sure which actually covered
the tail light circuit though – side lights?) and all seemed OK.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong, or what I could do to
further diagnose the problem?

Sods law really – car booked in for service next Tuesday but sudden loss of
power this evening.  RAC chap suspected the cam belt but the belt was still
intact.  His next thought was perhaps it had slipped.   Anyway he towed it
to my local garage where I usually take it – not a Ford dealer, but a
reasonable standard though.   Car has done approx 75K miles.

They are going to take a look at it tomorrow.

Fearing the worst, anyone have any opinion if this is worth repairing –
approximate likely cost.   How about a replacement reconditioned engine.

Any advice gratefully received
