1.4 Focus Saloon?

Hi,

My local Ford dealer says that he is getting four 1.4 Liter Focus Saloons in
next week. I didn’t think a 1.4 Focus Saloon existed, can anyone enlighten
me on this?.

16" tire choices for ZTS?

Hi folks,

So far, so good. I’m enjoying my 2001 Focus ZTS. Hopefully, I’ll get a lot
of miles on the tires before they’re due for replacement. But, always
thinking ahead, what choices do I have in the USA for replacement tires? Any
advice on what’s preferable and typical costs? The tires are currently the
stock 205/50-16 Firestones. I must admit that the low profile makes me worry
that choices will be limited and prices scary.

Dip Stick

Has anyone figured out why Ford can’t make a dip stick that shows
"full" when the required amount of engine oil is in the oil pan? This
is a 2001 LX, U.S., 2.0 SPI engine. The book says the oil capacity is 4
quarts. You can change the filter, pour in 4 quarts, run the engine a
minute or two, let it set a while and the dip stick will read half way
between full and low low. The owners manual make a really big deal
about NOT adding oil unless the dip stick reads low.

It’s almost as though they had a surplus of dip sticks and decided to
use them on these cars regardless of the fact that they are not
accurate. This is the first car I’ve owned where the stick did not read
full when the required amount of oil was added.

Anti roll bar links.

Anyone know what the average fail time of the anti roll bar link rods
are on the Focus? I’ve got a low speed knocking/rattle from the front
end which sounds like the links are knackered. I’ve done 32,000 miles.

Leaking fuel return pipes

I bought a brand new diesel Focus in September 2001 and although it has
covered less than 8,000 miles, I have had to have all of the fuel return
pipes replaced three time times as they have inexplicably split spurting
fuel all over the engine. The dealers who replaced the pipes can offer no
explanation and Ford UK are "investigating the problem.

Anyone else had a problem similar to this?

Focus Reliability

Bought a 2 year old Focus the back end of last year.Had silly little thngs
wrong with it and now the low fuel warning light does not work.Took it in to
where i bought it and they have had it looked at and told me it needs a new
dashboard fitting. What a load of crap these are.I had my Fiat Marea Weekend
for 2 years and the only thing that went wrong with it was the temp probe
for the outside air temp.It seems Fords are not very reliable.Bring back the
Cortina’s that ran for ever more with no trouble.
